It’s official: Marvin Vanluchene and Ben van den Bogaart are crowned FIM Sidecarcross World Champions 2026. The title was clinched at the penultimate round of the season, held in Varsseveld (Netherlands), where a simple second place in the first race was enough to secure a title that had become mathematically out of reach for their rivals. A result that makes complete sense once you look at the road that got them there.

A season that started badly…
Yet nothing about it was straightforward. From the very first round of the year, in Castelnau-de-Lévis, Marvin Vanluchene’s sidecar landed awkwardly after a jump during qualifying: his passenger at the time, Robbe de Veene, was thrown from the chair and seriously injured his knee. Ruled out for the rest of the season, the loss of his passenger left Marvin without a teammate – and the duo immediately fell well behind the Prunier brothers, who led the championship at that point.

…and ended in glory.
Without a passenger, Marvin turned to an old acquaintance: Ben van den Bogaart. Already a five-time world champion as a passenger (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018 – already alongside Marvin – and 2025), he was quietly watching the Castelnau-de-Lévis round from the stands, enjoying his retirement from racing. Moved by his former teammate’s situation, he decided to come out of retirement: by the second round, in the Czech Republic, the duo was reunited. The revived pairing immediately strung together a double win at Kramolín, then took the championship lead on home soil in Lommel with a maximum points haul. The momentum never let up: a dominant win in Lithuania saw their lead over the Pruniers stretch to 64 points even before Varsseveld.

With this title, Marvin Vanluchene claims his 4th world crown (2018, 2023, 2024, 2026), while Ben van den Bogaart secures his 6th, making him the most successful passenger in sidecarcross history.
